چکیده

Contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) are one the main barriers in water cycle as they limit reuse due to their adverse effects on humans and ecosystem. Natural and/or engineered ecosystems, such conventional wastewater treatment processes, not designed remove CECs contribute bioaccumulation organisms considering high volumes treated discharges. The adoption innovative solutions upgrade urban facilities has gained relevance for removal these substances from final effluents. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) show promising selective toward a wide range CECs. However, this process is still limited lab/bench scale needs be critically analyzed assessed possible scale-up real environment. Therefore, review, an overview fate occurrence initially reported together with state-of-the-art adsorption mechanisms compounds. In central part paper, evaluation MIPs synthesis status removing matrix presented. An upscaling pathway column lab- pilot-scale given applied enhanced safe irrigation/fertigation. Finally, integration MIP columns discussed advantages disadvantages potential addressed enhance sustainability.

Selective Extractions by Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs)

Sample preparation is often the rate-limiting step in analytical methods and its effectiveness has a critical impact on accuracy, quantification and, ultimately, the precision of any measurement. Traditionally, liquid–liquid extraction methods are frequently used for the extraction of organic analytes from aqueous samples. To overcome some of the disadvantages of liquid–liquid extraction (e.g.,...

Application of Molecularly Imprinted Polymers to Selective Removal of Clofibric Acid from Water

A new molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) adsorbent for clofibric acid (CA) was prepared by a non-covalent protocol. Characterization of the obtained MIP was achieved by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and nitrogen sorption. Sorption experimental results showed that the MIP had excellent binding affinity for CA and the adsorption of CA by MIP was well described by pseudo-second-order model. ...

Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs) in Biomedical Applications

Within biological systems, these are usually dynamic and are the result of a mass of noncovalent interactions, which act collectively to form a very stable system. Molecular imprinting is a relatively new and rapidly evolving technique used to create synthetic receptors, having recognition properties comparable to the biological systems and it also possesses great potential in a number of appli...

Are molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) beneficial in detection and determination of mycotoxins in cereal samples?

The process of matrix clean-up and extraction of analytes has a significant influence on the detection and determination of the analyte, especially in trace amounts. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are solid particles that can absorb specific molecules regarding the template molecule used in the synthesis process of each type of MIP. As a result, they can be used in more effective and mor...
